My comment got cut off, but the point is, this is a legit number for a physicians billing service. When you go to a hospital, the attending physician might be considered out of network, and therefore bills separately than the hospital itself. To verify and give yourself peace of mind, call your hospital’s billing department to have them verify that this number is indeed legitimate and linked to the out of network physician’s billing company. My hospital confirmed that 888-987-7983 is a correct number for the attending physician’s billing service.

I know there’s a ton of spam alerts for this number, but it’s actually a legit billing service. When you go to a hospital or emergency room, many times the attending physicians are not a part of the hospitals network. They are considered out- of-network and bill separately than the hospital. To verify, I called the billing department at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, where my husband received service, and they verified that this phone number is for the out-of-network physician’s billing department. When calling your hospital to verify, make sure to ask them if the physician may have been out of network and perhaps this is why you’re getting calls. Please note that your bill may be 100% paid with the hospital and you may still owe the out of network physician. The hospital will not have this information. The hospital did not share my husband‘s insurance information with the physician’s billing system, therefore, they sent a separate bill where we subsequently gave
