This is a Westpac number. I called it and they cancelled my card as it was being hacked. I was then suspicious because of the comments on here, so I called the number on my card to double check with Westpac. The number is legit and goes directly to the Fraud team.

Didn't request this transaction? Call 0800 666 007" you are either in the middle of making an online purchase with your card and continue as you are, or somebody else is and you should call the number.

It actually IS the Westpac Crime and Fraud Team. I double-checked this information through a call to Westpac’s main number 0800888111. I received the same text and was suspicious myself, but it turns out it’s not the 0800 number that’s suspect, but the attempted online transaction that had prompted the text in the first place - calling this number is a security feature (although any Westpac number will work - this number gets you straight to the fraud team) By calling this number, I was able to report the fraud, block my compromised card and get a replacement card within days. Yes I was asked for some identification details (e.g. birth year, credit card limit - as is standard) but nothing like passwords or PIN numbers. This is Westpac’s great customer service and I have no complaints!
